Mainframe Field Technical Support (Remote)

Providing technical/application pre- and post-sales support to the Sales Territory Account Executives and client base on the Mainframe product range.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the sales force with pre-sales activity such as proposal preparation, systems demonstrations and presentations, product installations and proof of concepts
  • Participate in pre and mid-evaluation reviews with Prospects and Sales Executives
  • Coordinating installations activity and providing support to customers during installation. Includes hands on user education, training and problem resolution
  • Initial post installation first level support and assistance to customers on an ongoing basis, conducting customer education courses and seminars
  • Assisting clients and partners in understanding and development of Dev Ops architecture and toolsets at Enterprise levels.
  • Keeping management aware of potential areas for product, services and educational sales, being continually aware of new products and releases through regular updates with the Product Manager. Attending and presenting at User Groups and Trade Shows. Functioning as back-up for other product areas
  • Providing input into product direction through participation in Sprint demonstrations Qualifications;
  • 5 years of mainframe applications development and/or operations management experience
  • Knowledge of Dev/Ops principles and technology enabling clients in continues delivery and continuous integration, (Jenkins, Cloudbees, Xebialabs, etc.)
  • Technical understanding, with the ability to assist Sales Account Managers with detailed information on a specific product, or range of products
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Sound working knowledge of Mainframe programming languages such as: Cobol and PL1 and Mainframe operating systems
  • Working knowledge of both CICS and batch concepts including JCL
  • Knowledge of SMP/E installation
  • Experience with workload automation
  • Ability to apply a broad range of consulting methodologies to complex customer situations
  • Requires a blend of technical, business, consultative and support skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Previous Pre-Sales experience would be an added bonus
