As a Linux Enterprise Systems Architect (REMOTE), you're a highly-technical systems engineer capable of architecting, implementing and maintaining a state-of-the-art enterprise hosting environment for running ERP-like systems, with a deep level of expertise in Unix-like operating systems, virtualization, storage and networking.
You'll demonstrate Fanatical Support® by owning complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve, which also means youll be a key partner in building relationships with customers as you advise them of any pitfalls and alternatives that may better serve their solutions along the way. - * Job Responsibilities:* * + The architect will be the primary contact for remote and hosted managed service customers and work with a team of engineers to architect, implement and support Rackspaces hosting services environment.
Guide customers by advising on technical issues that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems.
This includes defining, designing, implementing, and supporting complex application infrastructures, incorporating:
Working with off-shore resources to be a point of escalation for off-shore and on-shore team members in support our largest Enterprise clients, ensuring their complex infrastructures stay up and running 24/7 while working with bleeding-edge technology.
Create, automate and enforce standards of operation among team members and customers for regular occurring procedures to ensure the highest quality.
Problem analysis and solving for ERP-like application stacks (expert level for system load, I/O, memory, networking) consisting of:
Experience supporting Oracle EBS environments
Experience with Oracle VM, Xen, or similar virtualization technologies
Experience with Linux (RHEL), Solaris, AIX or HP-UX
Expertise with configuration management and process automation technologies (Saltstack, Ansible, Puppet etc.) and scripting/programming with python, bash.
Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
Requires approximately 5+ years working in a computer technical field, 3+ years in an enterprise server environment and 2+ years in hosting environment
Inherent problem-solver of last resort, with desire to learn and take on responsibilities
Customer relationship skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
Effective working with colleagues in a culturally and geographically diverse team enviornment.
Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, Engineers will be required to participate in on-call coverage rota for escalations overnight and on weekends and holidays
