DEVOPS ENGINEER

Primarily, you'll work collaboratively with software development to deploy and operate our systems. You will be responsible for not only automating and streamline our operations and processes, but also building and maintaining those tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. This includes troubleshooting and resolve issues in our dev , test and production environments.

Additional responsibilities, include primary responsibility on the security of our cloud services and find cost efficiencies.

Job responsibilities:

  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of Taylor Media's services.
  • Security of cloud services
  • Keeping Cloud costs within budget and finding waste
  • Create and deliver best practices recommendations, tutorials, and documentation.
  • Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviews.
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

Minimum requirements:

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration and Bash Scripting
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service. This includes in depth knowledge of security within and Enterprise application.
  • latency and overall system health.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
  • Strong experience with SQL and MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service. This includes in depth knowledge of security within and Enterprise application.
  • 5+ years of experience with Python other scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby etc
  • Hands-on experience in build and administer VMs and Containers using tools such as Docker, Vagrant, Kubernetes
  • Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP
