We are currently recruiting for a 100% remote mid-level Java Developer position for a large VA project.
Job Description:

  • Participate in the full agile application development life cycle for new development design, construction and testing of Java applications, Web Services (SOAP and REST), and reusable components to support overall project objectives.
  • Provide Agile software development expertise and hands on implementation of applications using the latest open source server side javascript technologies on the Node platform and other related open source products.
  • Extensive experience in developing web-services using SOAP and REST protocols is required.
  • Provide direction and mentoring for junior members of the team.
  • Prepare system design documentation and other artifacts for project reviews.
  • Act as a role model and advocate for best practices around test-driven development, Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Extensive knowledge of Spring/Hibernate/Struts
  • Experience with Java message Service (JMS) API
  • Experience with a wide variety of testing tools and techniques, ex. JUnit.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and government organizations
  • Understanding and working experience with Git branching and merging
  • Working experience in Application Server (Tomcat / WebSphere)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile development process and ceremonies including scrums, planning events, backlog grooming, retrospectives and demos.
  • Complex programming, program debugging, data analysis, problem analysis and resolution of issues within open source applications.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills in providing technical direction and hands-on software development to include design, development and testing.
