In this role, the Lead Systems Administrator position responsibilities are to oversee multiple systems and multiple personnel. Position requires working with remote customers and widely dispersed team members.
As a Lead System Administrator, the incumbent applies a high level of technical and functional expertise to lead the administration staff in the day-to-day operations of a DoD enclave. The incumbent applies accepted standards and best business practices to ensure the associated systems and applications are installed, secured, and maintained to DoD standards.

  • Leading a team of system administrators, including delegation of tasks
  • Management of multi-site DoD enclave of 100+ Linux servers in virtualized environment
  • Network architecture and design of enclave
  • Software and hardware installation and management
  • Maintaining systems security per DoD policy and industry best practices
  • Researching and reviewing hardware and software solutions
  • Working effectively with the team s software developers to meet their needs
  • Supporting and coordinating with sites security managers, users, and onsite personnel Qualifications:
  • Networking: Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with ssh, IPv4 & IPv6, DNS
  • Security: Linux hardening, PKI, SSL, firewalls
  • System Administration: Strong Linux system administration experience
  • Operating Systems: Linux (RedHat/CentOS preferred)
  • Virtualized environments (VMware or similr)
  • Configuration management (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt or similar)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Proof of U. S. citizenship or permanent residency is required due to government or federal requirement.
