Cloud Engineer -Remote



The Defense and Intelligence Group at Leidos has an immediate opportunity for a Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure) proficient in environment stand-up and application migration to join a team responsible for transforming the application footprint of the Air Force from legacy data centers to commercial cloud environments in AWS and Azure. Leidos has supported the GCSS-AF team for more than a decade, and the contract is at the forefront of leading the charge in to the CCE (Common Computing Environment), utilizing multiple migration partners and multiple commercial clouds. This is a remote position/telecommute option with 10% travel.


This position will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing legacy applications, refactoring the applications to utilize cloud-native services, and migrating them to the cloud, focusing on the use of automation and delivering applications that are easily sustained with self-service tools in the cloud. The engineer will be a key member of our Data Services cloud migration team, and will be responsible to collaborate closely with internal Leidos teams to include cloud architects, cloud environment build, and information assurance, as well as with customers to develop the best approaches for re-factoring, migrating, and maintaining applications in a cost-effective, repeatable, secure, scalable, and maintainable way.


?Reviewing and analyzing legacy applications, refactoring the applications to utilize cloud-native services, and migrating them to the cloud

?Designing and implementing solutions and services in the cloud

?Design and implement deployment solutions for various customers and environments

?Provide guidance and expertise on DevOps, migrations, and cloud technologies to customers (both customer mission application program offices and lead customer program offices

?Be devoted to knowing the latest trends in the Cloud space and solutions

?Demonstrated usage of Agile and DevOps processes and activities on project execution.



?Requires BS degree in relevant field and minimum of 7 years relevant experience, or MS degree and 5 years of relevant experience

?Previous experience migrating applications from data center to cloud.

?Proficient in Cloud technologies. Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Developer Certification(s)

Proficiency in:

? Build & CI automation tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

? Containerization (e.g. Docker)

? Scripting languages (e.g. bash, python, Go)

? Full stack development

? Network design & troubleshooting

? Linux system administration

? Virtualization

? Source code management tools & artifact management (e.g. git / BitBucket)

? Team collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, RocketChat)

? Big Data/Data Analytics

?3+ years of deep technical experience with Azure Cloud Technology

?3+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of application re-factoring/re-hosting and migration

?Application development experience preferred in one or more high-level languages

?Demonstrated usage of Agile and DevOps processes and activities on project execution.

?Solid time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads while consistently providing outstanding customer service.

?Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.

?Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
