Complete all IBM S/xx, AS/400, iSeries installation, upgrades, and performance tuning
Plan, manage and install all OS/400 software upgrades, install all cumulative and group PFTs
Install IBM Power 8 hardware and configured TCP/IP, Service tools security and PTFs.
Conduct system migrations to new hardware via tape restore or virtual tape.
Complete tape conversions from LTO and inch cartridge to RDX format.
Perform successful OS Upgrades using licensed program media as well as image catalog.
Install IBM licensed programs and third party software on new servers.
Configure SMTP for relay or authentication to outside hosted email accounts.
Setup system security. Set policy and audit controls for SOX SAS70 HIPPA
Setup detailed user access controlled and system security at object level
Install and configured FAX400 V5R8 with external or internal modem.
Respond to second and third level support calls regarding IBM i hardware.
Configure Motorola/Symbol handheld scanners and established wireless connection to host.
Support iSeries Service Desk in a virtual global support environment.
Maintain all service levels for critical AS/400 Systems and Services
Implement PTF s, patches, upgrades, and updates for the iSeries and associated systems.
Provide on-call support during nights/weekends and worked on special projects and processes as needed.
Establish and update procedural documentation of activities and duties.
Build relationship with Hardware/Software vendors and support teams as well as recommend, plan and install AS/400 performance improved changes.
Use extensive knowledge to diagnose and repair required break-fix issues on iSeries Hardware.
Deliver second and third level client technical phone support in all areas involving IBM ienvironments.
Work with customers to provide management-level support for the IBM i collocations.
System operation and administration, application of program fixes, HMC firmware and IBM i security.
Perform system performance monitoring and tuning for AS/400 operating systems, patches, and maintenance.
Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, install system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
Recommend hardware and software upgrades and interface with business partners to accomplish goals.
Assist with projects concerning new installations of the IBM icollocations and remote support. Implement BRMS backups and restore plans and Hardware/SAN replication for high availability and Software data replication for high availability and disaster recovery
College degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years experience in the OS support of iSeries (AS/400)
5+ years' experience in system support in a production environment
Basic CL programming knowledge is necessary
Experience with Vision Mimix, Double Take Share, BRMS and Robot Scheduler a plus
