Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability

Are you passionate about standardization, repeatability, and automation? Are you always the person in the room reminding people that this solution needs to work for a brand new installation in addition to existing? The Backpack team builds tools that ease the operational burden of spinning New Relic up from scratch. We push infrastructure as code for repeatability, participate in the creation of standards for teams to adopt, and write software to automate processes that have long been manual. Our goal is to be able to deploy New Relic anywhere at any time, with minimal involvement from the engineering organization at large.
Examples of what youll work on: - Standardization and enhancements of the New Relic service discovery system - Automation of new data center deployments using infrastructure-as-code and dependency graph data - The annual Disaster Recovery exercise and new data center deployments - Participate in the design of how multiple standalone instances of New Relic work together You could be right for the job if: - You have experience writing Go - You believe in infrastructure as code and have used tools like Terraform - You dont wait for others to unblock you, but instead charge forward and unblock yourself - You hate that DevOps has become an overloaded term because it perfectly describes your mix of programming chops and operations expertise Nice to have: - Experience with Container Linux (CoreOS) and Ignition - Networking expertise Please note, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
