The Technical Architect Consultant will be responsible for providing consulting services to clients to analyze and provide strategies and solutions on all aspects of infrastructure and related technology components. The role will advise on the best design for information technology architectures in less complex information technology environments. The Technical Architect Consultant is expected to have deep domain knowledge in a minimum of at least one technical architecture. Technical architecture is defined within Dimension Data as - Network Integration, Unified Communication, Security, Wireless, Contact Center and Datacenter.

The Technical Architect Consultant has responsibility for the development of guidelines, rules, and models, used by LOBs for the scoping of services and associated costs (validation of delivery models and costs for client services solutions.) The role will be responsible for providing guidelines and direction in reviewing drafting, and revising complex consultative service assessments, RFPs and SOWs for technical accuracy and operational adherences to best practices and methodologies.

In addition, the Technical Architect Consultant has ownership for the development and continuous improvement of best practices and methodologies used to deliver services. The Technical Architect Consultant will serve as the key technical interface between the Architectural Team, Shared Engineering and the LOB presales organization.

The Technical Architect Consultant will be an escalation point for Managing Technical Consultants, Architectural Team Engineers, and Shared Services Engineers, and will have responsibility for proactive inspection of technical aspects of professional services projects.

The ideal Technical Architect Consultant possesses experience both in pre-sales and post-sales engineering in the related Architectural Team technical specialty.

What you'll be doing

CANDIDATE CAN RESIDE IN Western USA, remotely near major airport or Dimension Data office.

Major Duties & Responsibilities - Act as the senior technical presales resource for delivery scoping and technical approval for key service engagements - Serve as the point of technical escalation for Service Operations technical delivery personnel - Provide proactive inspection of ongoing projects for adherence to best practices and methodologies - Participate in solution development through technical validation of new offerings and products - Coordinate (and sometimes deliver) technical training for Dimension Data delivery resources on new solutions - Take ownership for the development and continuous improvement of technical delivery methodologies - Act as lead delivery consultant for large professional services projects/engagements Education/Qualifications Required - CCIE certification in Data Center required for the planning, design, implementation and management of complex, modern IT data center infrastructure - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Expert Technical Knowledge of applicable solutions, technologies and products - Achieved multiple, high-level vendors' certifications in at least one technical architecture - TOGAF and ITIL Certification are desired What would make you a good fit for this role?

Work Experience Required - 10 to 12 years of industry-related work experience - 8 years of relevant experience in a professional services pre-sales or post-sales engineering role - Ability to provide documented prior success in the role of lead engineer or presales engineer on 10+ projects (including at least 1 large-scale project) for existing Dimension Data clients, or via reference from former clients or employers Skills and Core Competencies - Strong client service orientation and expert client engagement skills - Persuasive, confident with expert presentation skills - Excellent communication and documentation skills - Strong mentoring skills - Able to coordinate team efforts - Strong consultative skills - Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations based on findings - Demonstrates a strong understanding of Dimension Data processes and an expert understanding of its products - Expert in configuration and installation in at least one technology area. Expert system level troubleshooter.
