Up and coming software company aiming to revolutionise the way airlines and travel companies interact are looking for a technical lead to build, enhance and progress their existing platform, The system is designed from the ground up to be modular: * While other companies are stuck in supporting single forms of payment where we can plug in multiple providers seamlessly * We also support adding new features with almost 100% backwards compatibility The product runs on Kubernetes and employs a microservices architecture allowing for: * Fast deployments * Split responsibilities * Learning cutting-edge tech * Making the system more fault tolerant We look up to market leaders and are happy to copy what works: * We want to be the Stripe for travel * We want developers to love us * We want to grow based on recommendation and not marketing spend We provide developer-friendly documentation & SDKs Your ideal profile * We are looking for someone who is ready to get their hands dirty and share this exciting journey with us with a go-getter attitude. * We want to work with people who are passionate about our mission, proactive and ready to adapt. We are a small hard working team but like to have some fun. * Our ideal profile is a Senior Engineer who'd be interested in building an industry game changer API. Although the systems we are integrating with are legacy, our technology built around it is flexible, stateful and completely new which makes it really exciting. * We are simplifying legacy system by building a developer friendly REST API using the most up to date modern tech. * Most of our code is in Node and Python with C# for one service. We have also started looking at Go. The frameworks we use Hapi, .NetCoreApi, Django-RESTful. On the database side we use PostgreSQL and Redis for caching. All of this is deployed to a Kubernetes cluster hosted on AWS. Our stack is flexible and it's expected to grow based on what best fits the project and what is the right tool for the job. We also sometimes experiment with new technologies that we are not experts in but have heard they will be very useful. *We expect the successful candidate to have worked on and built APIs. Anything to do with parsing XML is also a huge plus but mainly we focus on the API side. * Your responsibility Your responsibilities (in the first 6 months) * The engineer would be working alongside the Tech co-founder on new integrations with airlines helping us get to a good stage to launch the product on the market. * The work includes choosing the best technology for each airline. Most of the airlines' APIs use XML and some are a bit more sophisticated and use SOAP. Some actually have a CSV document on an FTP server so the solutions from one problem to another could be quite challenging and extravagant. * The engineer will work closely with the tech lead to integrate a new airline by using the existing boilerplate and NDC mapping technology with are both written in JS. The implementation will need to be able to search and book a flight. Afterwards, we should proceed to have seats and bags being bookable as well. This will show the engineer how we incorporate new functionality in the existing system. * The job afterwards will include integrating other airlines, adding the functionalities and improvements of the system. This might mean that we would be moving even more things in new micro-services or playing around with our infrastructure deployments. As we move very quickly and change priorities based on customer feedback we do not have a fixed long term engineering plan. What we do have is a scheduled 1 sprint (2 weeks) every 2 months for engineering improvements

PHP Dev - 2 Days Remote Salary: £35,000 - 40,000 Location: Nottingham + Remote Remember when you were a kid and you used to get told off for sitting in front of the computer all day playing games? "You'll never make any friends just staring at a screen all day!" Now, I'm not sure about you lot, but as a nerdy teenager most of my friends were online. I'd finish school, chuck my bag on the floor, wait for Windows Vista (vomit) to decide whether it wanted to boot up that day, and log in. In fact, being the nerdy teenager, online communities were one of the few places I felt at home. Sure, if you strip it all down, it's just some pixels on a screen, but to those who are a part of it, it's so much more than that. There was a sense of community and camaraderie. I learned that it was okay to be myself because of the friends, and the communities that existed online, and when I think about it now, there were probably loads of people behind the scenes making sure those communities were able to exist and thrive. They probably weren't doing it for the money, but imagine how much more they could have done if they could do it full-time? They could do bigger and better things. Bring more people together. Help to create more memories that people like me would look back on 10 years later. 9 years ago, 2 guys from Nottingham decided they'd make a platform that could help countless indie game devs and small studios do just that. Y'know, make a proper living out of it. As you can imagine, it's gone pretty well, and they've decided it's time to branch out, help more people with more platforms and products - they need another dev to really put their plans in motion though. Maybe that's you? Stack is PHP (Laravel), MySQL, and maybe a bit of frontend stuff sprinkled here and there. They're not looking for someone with the perfect background. Just someone who "gets it", has the ability to learn and think on their feet, and ultimately wants to help other devs create something special. Remote working 2 days a week, 33 days holiday, flexible working, and regular training and conferences are all on the cards too. Want to know more? Send over your CV. Let's talk nerdy to each other
