SUMMARY: **Preferred location is Southfield MI, however, qualified applicants outside of this area may be considered depending on their location** Responsible for assessing innovation concepts and potential ideation paths, as well as stewarding progress of innovations through Business Lab, and identifying and carrying out ongoing refined assessments of concepts as they mature towards productization or hit various elimination gates. These duties include but are not limited to research, exploration, test and implementation of initiatives within the innovation area of the Business Lab. Play a key role in the discovery and assessment of potential diverse new revenue generating opportunities in support of profitable growth for the enterprise, stemming from these innovations. Contribute and help manage the Innovation pipeline and employee facing Idea Pipeline.
Utilize business planning expertise, methodology, and coordination to effectively provide early identification of a wide array of business opportunities, including potential merger and acquisition or investment activity. Evaluate, outline and document the startup cost, business impacts, operational plan and return on investment of new business opportunities. Function, at times, as part of the team defining and implementing experiments and pilots focused on new ideas by ongoing test and analysis activities. Provide and execute an analysis, test and verify methodology for innovations.
Stay current on late breaking trends within the healthcare industry to help identify threats, opportunities, and impending business model disruption, as well as innovation candidates. Exercise broad discretion and judgment in the acquisition and dissemination of such information. Push the limits of the business and our engagement with customers by thinking out of the box and challenging the business norm.
Identify and assess external innovations in accordance with a defined methodology
Define potential roadmaps for moving an innovation concept forward within Business Lab
Carry out assessments of productization potential and potential financial impact, in conjunction with other resources
Participate, at times, as part of experiments and pilots, layout out a methodology for milestone progress measurement and ongoing concept viability assessment
Define and oversee the execution of innovation concept tests
Manage the selection, maintenance and evaluation of new business models and revenue generating opportunities to determine the best fit for the organization, currently and strategically.
Support the innovation department's business development process which include planning, budgeting, reporting, problem solving, risk and issues management, communications, vendor management, and implementation.
Determine funding requirements for each step in the business development process.
Mentor and educate business partners and company leadership on best practices innovation concept assessment, the utilization of best practices, resource allocation, project prioritization, plan development, risk analysis, scope and budget requirements.
Monitor and report on new innovation concept progress and the path to new revenue from innovation
Participate in developing department goals, objectives, processes, procedures, and systems.
Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitors results, identifies variances and makes recommendations.
Serve as a member of any relevant advisory groups providing project guidance and innovation updates.
Work with minimum supervision and exercise sufficient discretion and independent judgment.
Maintain confidentiality of innovation research and work efforts.
